Memoirs and more

In exciting news, I have two pieces that have just been published. Both are memoir stories or personal essays about my lived experiences, that incorporate Asian-Australian perspectives.

Published in August by Hardie Grant Books, ‘Emergence’ is a collection of the top 30 stories from the 2022 SBS Emerging Writers’ Competition. I was fortunate to have my piece ‘No Fish Porridge for a Metal Ox’ included in this anthology. My piece is about the joys and struggles of motherhood, and the cultural expectations of motherhood in Australia and Singapore.

And published on 1 September, The Big Issue (ed 694) has some cracking content, including my essay ‘Dad’s Day’, about, well, my dad, and how I discover that a child’s love can change with time. If you can support a vendor by buying directly from them, all the better! I bought five copies from Jack in Martin Place... four of which were for Mum, my biggest supporter.

Both are deeply personal pieces in which I bare my heart and soul. I hope you enjoy reading them.
